2. Mandarin Matrix Online Classroom: (Please read online books and do practice & test at home)
- We will have Two Chinese tests on this Thursday (1. YCT test 04/12/2018) and Friday (2. Mandarin Matrix Reading and Writing test 04/13/2018).
- The Thursday's test questions will be on YCT (Youth Chinese Test) Level one vocabulary words (For listening part and reading part): The YCT is an international standardized test of Chinese language proficiency. It assesses young students' abilities to use Chinese in their daily and academic lives. The YCT level one test consists of a listening and reading test.
- The Friday's test is Mandarin Matrix Reading and Writing test. There are four parts in the MM test: 1. Vocabulary Picture Matching = 2 points each (12). 2. Picture and sentence Matching= 7 points each (28). 3. Fill-In the Blank Box = 5 points each (45). 4. Reading Comprehension = 12.5 points each (25).

- This week we had the second Mandarin Matrix Reading and Writing test. There are four parts in the test: 1. Vocabulary Picture Matching. 2. Picture Q and A Sentence Matching. 3. Fill-In the Blank Box. 4. Reading Comprehension. Our students are doing well on the first to third parts. We will work more on the last part reading comprehension in the following weeks.
Math:
Monday (04/09) :
- 10-9: Math Practices and Problem Solving: Model with Math.
- Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten.
- Model and solve problems by drawing a picture and writing an equation.

- Lesson 11-1: Subtract tens using models.
- Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count; explain the reasoning used.
- Subtract multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 from multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 (positive or zero differences), using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
- Use models to subtract tens.
- Subtracting a multiple of 10 from another multiple of 10 is similar to subtracting numbers less then 10.
Wednesday (04/11):
- Doing math homework in class.

Thursday (04/12):

- Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count; explain the reasoning used.
- Subtract multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 from multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 (positive or zero differences), using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
- Use a hundred chart to subtract a multiple of 10 from another multiple of 10.
- Subtracting multiples of 10 is like counting back by tens. You can show how to subtract a multiple of 10 from another multiple of 10 on a hundred chart.
